I've been over Matthew 19:12 and its surrounding context so many times. The language in the original Greek text really doesn't allow any other interpretation than literal castration and Jesus reinforces this fact by giving two other examples in the same verse: one with malformed genitals (or birth defects) and another where someone is made a eunuch by a third party (slavery was a common situation)
