Proving the Earth is flat is a substitute for proving the existence of god.
That's why I love saying I'm a flat-earther and an atheist. It's best accompanied by pictures posted like this one, about other cultures belief in a flat Earth found in cultures all over the world, because most of them weren't even monotheistic. They don't know why they care about the Earth being flat as much as they do, but the idea that someone can be both a flat-earther and an atheist deflates their interest in the topic.
