It's not true. There isn't one strain of Christianity. To act as though Eastern Orthodox are equivalent to Christian Zionist Evangelicals would offend both parties now. To act as though someone who belonged to a fertility or festival cult like Aphrodite or Dionysus somehow represented all cults, let alone all tradition is inane.
Beside which, Europe has been Christian for anywhere from 600 to 1600 years or more. It's been 600 years in the Baltics and closer to 1600-1700 years in the Med and South Central Europe where Christianity made its earlier inroads. Given that we've been under a nominally Christian civilization for that long, any of the problems we have now are a result of defects in Christian civilization of one type or another.
