There are a few side effects that lasted me a long time. One of them was that I couldn't breathe properly without severe pain due to the cracked ribs. So partially due to that and being a smoker, I got a lung infection.
Another side effect is that due to the internal bleeding, the membrane sack surrounding and keeping your heart comfortable can become irritated and severely inflamed. It was especially painful when leaning back, coughing or laughing. The pain from that is supposedly as bad as a heart attack. I would tend to agree seeing as I was forced to curl up on the same side of my body to sleep every night even with all the pain meds I got
