Well...This is interesting (at least to me).
I've been at my sister's since Friday doggie-sitting; her neighbors are from Fayette GA...in for the weekend, as usual. Wife had to leave Saturday until Wednesday.
Bill just showed up to say his water main broke over the weekend under his driveway, causing him to shut off his main, saying No plumbers were available over the weekend.
(He has Parkinsons and she is not mechanically inclined...so, I've become their 'fix-it guy' through the years, recently removing an old washing machine and installing their new one.)
Bill just showed to tell of his problem.
>I did an inspection.
Considering my three decades in forestry and soil science, I'm pretty certain I've located the breech UNDER his garden, most likely at the 90° joint where the pvc pipe turns towards the house.

All that said...I'm about to dig up the area I'm certain the bend is in to locate the offending pipe, and, hopefully find it's only a joint that needs a quick fix.
In this case: thank God for PVC.
Off to do some plumbing.
One day I might tell the story of how I fixed my own water main last year. A 70+ year-old metal pipe that split a half-inch past my foundation wall, before the first shut-off valve.
