Although I'm not quite clear on this, I did hear that they were some sort of energy devices, beams sent up into the Universe...but, I've never taken the time to study it.
However, the many bas reliefs showing what looks to be a form of electric lights, perhaps for healing purpoes, seems to indicate they may have generated some form of power.
Then, again, maybe whatever powereed those lights were just something in line with a Baghdad battery.
I wouldn't mind learning more.
