I'm not all that certain that *Christianity* needs play a part in this, fren.
Perhaps you might consider the meaning behind >"walking in the footsteps of Jesus"
as something beautiful to ponder, one that does not need weigh heavily, as other things you've encountered has..
Meaning, 'love thy neighbor' and 'do unto others', as example, tend to be valuable concepts to always keep in mind.
'The Sermon on the Mount' runs along the same lines.
Pic related is a fascinating interpretation of the beatitudes by a Hindu swami,
>who sees Jesus as "an uncompromisingly spiritual one. He declared God can be seen, that divine perfection can be achieved...in order that men might attain this supreme goal of existence..."The contemplation of God, and the purification of the heart through the love of God."
▪All of this can be approached without a need to bind yourself to any particular faith. It is merely the quest for greater perception. "Seek and you shall find" comes to mind, here.
Think about getting your hands on that book, if only to read how other faiths revere that sermon.
From one of the dead sea scrolls was found a Qumran spin of the first beauitude: " blessed are they who have remained poor for the spirits sake"
All I am trying to point out is that there are lighter paths that may help you to gain easier understanding. They might help open a door gently, even unwittingly.
Now I will stand down, as you wish, on all such matters.
