The only real sides are the ones who want to be governed & controlled; The Sheep.
And the ones who prefer to have sovereign authority over themselves, those who prefer self determination & self-possession; The Lions.
Unfortunately It's perfectly natural for the Sheep to outnumber the Lions if you think about it.
This is why Democracy is fundamentally wrong.
