That elimination was between TJ, Jimmy, Shinji and Taylor. Losing Taylor would've hurt the show less than losing any of the other 3. Plus it also happened to sorta play into the romance bit, making TJ kick her off and what not. I think TJ got very lucky Taylor was there for production to kick off instead of him.
Of course the guys in production have biases but I think its more like "we need to try and keep the most compelling people for as long as possible" and less "Tj is my favorite so he has to stay! This guy was mean to my favorite so he has to be kicked off!".
