>>4348735The kundalini process is simply the process of biological enlightenment of the human nervous system.
Without a doubt, if approached improperly or recklessly, it can lead to hellish experiences. I'm sorry to hear you had a rough time, believe me, I can relate.
The key is to go slow, don't force anything, and do not open the crown chakra until it opens on its own. Most kundalini problems are caused by premature opening of the crown chakra, which leads to uncontrollable flow of energy upwards, often through a nervous system that is not prepared for that level of current.
The third eye chakra (ajna chakra, ajna means "control") should be opened/developed before opening the crown chakra. This allows the practitioner some degree of control over the energy flow.
The third eye chakra will naturally expand and open the crown chakra by proxy (these chakras begin to merge over time). So there is really no need to try to open the crown chakra at all, just allow it to open naturally on its own.
Unfortunately some people have difficulties with the crown opening prematurely even without any effort, and no one really knows why. It can cause a lot of unpleasant experiences (excessive purification of the nervous system), and even panic.
If this happens to you just back off of any yoga practices until thing settle down, do things that are grounding like lots of exercise, even walking on the ground without shoes can help.
Sorry to hear you had a rough time, anon. :( You are certainly not alone. Ultimately rough patches will eventually give way to inner bliss and ecstasy, but kundalini yoga is absolutely no guaranteed walk in the park.
