We can usually communicate with swedes without any trouble but danish is a bit worse.
The things is, we are exposed to those languages semi frequently in kids shows and regular tv etc so we grow up with it. At least we used to. I'm not sure what it's like now. Probably more english focused since people watch youtube instead of television.
