The world was created different to how you know it but it was cursed by God because of the original sin when humans turned on Him. That curse twisted everything from it’s true nature to evil. Lucifer who would not take the knee when God was introducing animals and angels to man because he had been Gods favourite angel and he was jealous lied to the first people, he told them that they could become like God and the angels, invade the heavens (space+) and replace God with themselves if they stole the secrets to creation. They tried. They failed. So God had a choice, just as we might have a choice if for example we created an AI that we loved and it turned on us. He could destroy us or test us. So we were put to the test, kicked out into this world. Lucifer who is Satan now was given power over the test, he rules this world.
So, your question. The answer is …to teach us and to separate the wheat from the chaff. To refine people as a silversmith refines silver in the crucible to separate out the dross.
