I honestly have tried to not be racist. I grew up with no real prejudice, and I've even made a conscious effort to always treat blacks equally. And then by the time I got to high school, I noticed that all the black students would self segregate to their own lunch table, disrupt class, fight constantly, make racist remarks to the white kids nonstop, and eventually even started attacking us, and...nothing, not a word to anyone, the entire place just acted like it wasn't happening. Then I got into the real world, and saw a version of the same thing - self segregation, racist remarks, and then racist violence, but dead silence from political leaders.
That line about learning racism at home is nonsense, I never heard a racist word from either parent. I learned racism from black people.
