I started basic military training which meant pretty much stopping all language study. I'd invested several hours a day over the course of a year to learning Japanese. The loss of ability I've experienced since stopping for a few months is immense.
I'm thinking of just starting over but it's hugely demotivating to invest so much into something and see no return. I plan to be back in Tokyo next summer, so I can at least get some practice in before then.
Anybody here attained fluency or close enough to in another language? It feels impossible.
