>>9665220>How do literate Russians view Communism as an ideology? It varies. Many people, especially those who view modern day Europe as a highlight for Russia's further development, dislike it due to the strict censorship and authoritarianism that were prevalent for the most part of USSR's existence, but some find it somewhat justified because economic and social situation used to be more stable back then. However, most people on both sides build their view on Communism using some historical facts about USSR, sometimes of questionable accuracy too, instead of Marx's or Lenin's works. I'd say that only a small fraction of people reads them at all, so that leads to a wrong perception of Communism, for instance, your example with thinking that everyone gets to have equal salary. But that's quite understandable since Kapital is not only quite difficult to understandon its own but is also about 2000 pages long or something. I myself have read only its castrated version that was about thrice as short if not even less, but since shortly after I stopped giving a shit about politics in general I've never bothered to read in full to this day as well.
