>>7225787Teaching is pretty Chad in Japan, most teachers fail their exam and repeat so most take the job extremely seriously and you're kind of a cool guy if you're a young Sensei. Private and public have very similar standards and public is often superior further outside of Tokyo as you have to earn your 'free education'. You're shown the utmost respect by students, it's completely different to teaching in Australia where im from.
That said, the system has little mercy or interest in anyone who fails to meet standards and the emotional cost on students is sometimes hard to deal with. I've taught kids with amazing talents in areas outside of standardised testing and they talk about killing themselves like its plan B to graduating.
