4chan is only worthwhile if you can dedicate time and learn to sift through a lot of crap for gems of truth. Use the catalog. In the upper right you can see settings. This has a number of options for user customization that can make navigating the site easier.
I particularly like the 'thread watcher' option. It allows you to flag a thread to see when it gets replies, and it indicates if one of your posts has been replied to.
