>>14376425Societies almost always use whats available and economically viable. The US has endless supplies of cheap wood and lumber. Europe was striped of viable timber for centuries and was used for primarily fuel. In fact shipping lumber to Europe from the US was a massive industry historically. Then there's the seismic factor. If Southern Europe had the timber resources of the US or Japan you can bet they would have built out of wood also.
