>>12172642>I can't help but notice that "their speed will be their armour" never actually works out in practice. Eventually everyone wants the big one.I can't speak practically as I'm obviously not old enough to have fought during the age of tanks but from what I've noticed in a lot of "historic" vidya light tanks often lose out to heavier tanks that do their job of being a rolling fortress. As much as gaymers would love for the Staghound to be able to waste on Tigers all day long with mobility alone it isn't gonna happen in reality. Tanks were meant to be a means to get somewhere without worrying about something else getting in the way and unfortunately are kind of a bigger stick kind of thing. From what you said it seems like the development of tanks tried to take that detour from "lol just make everything bigger" to trying to make things faster. I commend what they were trying but big and fast doesn't always workout.
APS is awesome though. Truly that's the wild card in tank development. Fuck your armor, fuck your gun and fuck you if I can intercept your rounds before they can even touch me. Then tank mobility would be tilting but APS aren't widespread like they would need to be AFAIK. Correct me if I'm wrong please.
As for americans designing tanks I have no opinion other than they look absolutely retarded until the M103. I hate the Sherman and you should too. It fucking sucked.
I like your threads anon. They tickle me in a way that if a cute boy tickled me that way I'd be all "awww yeah keep doin that".
I too have a crippling tism for armaments that can seem really isolating.
