his whole thing is like, he knows that some bad thing will happen to this girl if she keeps him around and uses him, so he urges her to throw him away before it happens. then she shrugs it away and he immediately gives up
like he knows that she will have her life ruined if she doesnt listen to him, and he gets all sad because he doesnt want that. yet the only effort he makes to prevent it is a vague ass comment and nothing more
then it shows him being all depressed and its supposed to be sad
but
if he wants to protect the girl so bad then why the fuck doesnt he simply keep pressing it on to her that she should not use him ever again instead of staying completely silent
there is this really weak plot point later on to "explain" it, like if the guy tells to the girl exactly why he cant use her then he'll die, but thats also redundant because one, it doesnt stop him from convincing her to not use him without an exact reason for it, and two, it wouldnt fucking change anything if he told her why and died immediately after because thats what he wanted anyway. the point of his character is supposed to be that hes willing to sacrifice himself for the girl but he refuses to sacrifice himself? wtf?
its hard to explain without context but yeah its retarded
anyhow also the entire premise of the anime is undermined and has no purpose of being there other than to drive the plot
its supposed to be around card battles and even based off a real game, but it ends up doing absolutely nothing with that. nothing about the rules of the game gets explained and nothing interesting gets shown, the battles are literally just turns taking punches until somebody figures out the power of friendship or something and wins. theres no strategy or mindgames or anything, just that
its like if all girls und panzer's battles had to them was tanks taking turns shooting at each other from a field until someone won
