In it's original, chemical sense, it means something different from how that word is used by you and others. However all I'm saying is that's not what "distilled" means from a chemical perspective. In chemistry if you say "distilled water" - you literally referring to unadulterated 100% H2O, which ISN'T DRINKABLE ( I mean if you're dying in the Sahara you would gladly drink it and it would save you, but it would still taste like shit - not something you'd do on a daily basis). The process you are referring to, called "distillation" is used in a colloquial sense, as it only removes SOME of the minerals and kills the bacteria etc. (I guess because in the area where one might live there can indeed be a need for such a thing). But AGAIN "distilled water is 100% pure H2O which is disgusting to drink - like you wouldn't be able to - go ahead and buy pure H2O and try it. But thank you for letting me know how the word "distilled" is used for today.
