Allowing herself to be as vulnerable as she has been tonight goes against everything Priscilla was taught and everything she believed, yet the time spent with Carmody and Sola had coaxed it out of her. And she didn’t regret it at all.
But as Priscilla follows Carmody’s glance to the TV, she sees that while she was enjoying a pleasant evening with two new friends, one of her older friends was having a considerably less positive experience. Or maybe she wasn’t, for as she looks at Coco on the screen, the look in her eyes, the way she moves, and especially the fact she lost to someone like Pizza Girl, Priscilla fails to see any of Nikki in her. An entirely different person in the body of her friend. A person she didn’t know, trust or understand at all. Sapphire seemed sure Coco could be trusted because she saved Nikki’s life. Priscilla didn’t agree, after all, Coco was saving herself too.
An escape from these thoughts comes for Priscilla in the form of Carmody’s request to record a promo.
>Of course Carm, I’d love to do that. And an idea that’ll catch them off guard? You’re speaking my language.Priscilla watches as Carmody sets up the camera. She’s so full of energy. Carefree. Everything is so easy, so straightforward with her and Sola. A far cry from Nikki and never knowing when the stranger Priscilla just saw on TV will take control of her next.
When Sola expresses doubt about being in the video, Priscilla decides to reassure her.
>Well, I suppose you don’t need to be in it if you don’t want to, but it sure would be fun if you were. Don’t you agree, Carmody?
