We didn't have very many fireflies but when I took the lights down, suddenly there were tons of them. Even that tiny bit of light was enough to drive them away. It wasn't that the LEDs were drowning out the light from the fireflies, it was actually driving them away. If you have a light on your back porch or other lights back there, try leaving them off for a week or so and see what happens.
