In just a few years we will have the technology to bootstrap paradise on Earth or other worlds, physical or otherwise.
And it only took us a few centuries to go from no electricity to that outcome and maybe even resurrecting the dead, so I think the bible is right that being a good person is all that really matters, since you are already provided everything, including eternal life.
