What will happen now somebody on a thread yesterday explained with the prisoner dilemma.
A wealthy prisoner is being kept hostage and the hostage takers take turns standing guard. with every passing shift the prisoner offers a rising amount of money to the current guard for cutting him loose. First it's $10k, the next is offered $20k and so on. At some point one of the guards will take the money.
Since this current short squeeze is held up by so many individual traders, it will become more likely with time and rising value of the stock that enough of them cave so that at some point there'll be enough stocks afloat to back the shorts and the price will droop into a bottomless pit.
There's no hive mind here, you can't control what all these individual traders do and nobody wants to be the guy who sold too late when the stocks already dropped.
