>>20313330>>20313330Jesus fulfilled it all on the cross. John 6:40 is the will of the Father, Acts 16:31 & Romans 10:9 explain clearly what one must do to be saved, which is believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Works based salvationists reject the free gift and Grace of God through Christ's atoning sacrifice on the cross and turn it into a transactional event. Matthew 7:21-23 is what's going to happen to all who deny free grace and try to use their works to justify themselves at the Day of Judgement.
Ironically Jesus is saying in the verses you quoted that you cannot enter Heaven unless your righteousness exceeds the Pharisees, who by the way, followed the Law to the letter, yet did not believe in Christ. This is why Jesus rightly proclaimed publicans and harlots will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven before they will, and you too if you truly believe your works will save you.
Oh and if you're going to cherry pick quote the book of James and say faith without works is dead, I got bad news for you because any time an apostle refers to the church as beloved or brethren, they're already saved through faith and sealed with the Holy Spirit. The Ephesians were carnal and struggled with sin yet they were saved.
Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
