My own gen of milennials has families, work, or some other time consuming thing outside. We cannot create new sites easily anymore. So that task was up to the zoomer. And the zoomer spectacularly failed. We realized that telegram works, I personally realized the power of skill based content as well (there is theory behind it why it works like it does to filter them out)
So I myself also dont reccomend people making chans anymore. Rather skill based stuff, or just use telegram. The non anonymous nature lets us ban and filter mentally ill people better.
