>here's a few I enjoyedThank you so much! It's not quite a fair exchange, but I thought I'd mention one of the books that got me interested in it, besides the one I'm reading now - The Good Earth. It's not technically Chinese, but its depiction of the rural life there, the kind that went mostly unchanged for so long, got me interested in the country in general. How that life changed so suddenly, and irreversibly, during the Revolution puts it into another perspective too.
It's worth a look, anyway.
