Usually I'm with a coworkerq and wind up getting 2 coffees so it rounds up to $4.09, so same deal, I'll always give them $4 and if they bitch, I tell them to keep their coffee and leave. Hell, there's times I've gone back through the same drive through to see if they change their tune.
I have friends who have work there and they say the slave drivers there are more worried about drive through efficiency than they are about the till floats for final count. The more they can get through faster is more money. Goes efficiency>food waste>float>absenteeism.
