Banning any religion, especially these days, presents two large problems: First, it sets an ugly precedent. If you put the framework in place to remove a religion, someone else can use it again later, or change it slightly to remove something else. And you might not look as favourably on what they intend to remove next.
The other part pertains to the cultural and historical significance of religion. I'm not even religious, I'm atheist. But religion has been at the core of most societies around the world in one form or another since before agriculture and civilization existed. If you can take away something as deeply-rooted in humanity as that, you can really step on freedoms of just about any kind at that point. I don't like religion, but banning it is one of the worst kinds of authoritarianism that exists. Which is one of the numerous reasons that communists are absolute scum.
