change oil, change spark plugs, change a tire, change air filters, etc.
also should be well & HVAC maintenance: pump priming, reading gauges and calibrating cut-in/out, fixing sink & toilet back-ups, cleaning UV filter bulb or adding chlorine, etc.
an optional elective should be gun safety and shooting sports; gun anatomy, maintenance and rust prevention, applying lube, chamber pressure, basic mechanical operations (short stroke piston vs long stroke vs DI, trigger sears, selector switches)
guns are extremely simple but their mechanisms are conceptually everywhere. car engines are 10x more complicated for comparison but it's all the same, pressure from explosion makes moving part. plus they will be naturally interesting to young men.
