>>18699753>>18705806Carmody laughs, sending jabbing pain through her ribs in a few different places.
>"Better make the most of it; I won't be in here long."She looks at them. Ash. Paule. Sola. The flowers that Kanako has sent. Paule's tears are nearly contagious, and Carmody feels a lump in her own throat.
Carmody Jefferson had come here to the WWA looking for a way to make money, something she could do other than waiting tables. She'd wanted some of the success Colby was having. What she'd found was a place where she'd belonged. But it wasn't the place so much as the people, who were gathered around her bed right now. They were all here to see her, because they cared.
Carmody sits up in the bed. She almost doesn't make it, and the intense, blinding pain of movement turns her face nearly white for a second. But pain is fleeting and unimportant. A second later she has almost a smile on her face.
>"It means so much that you'd all come here. I haven't been around long, but I'm feeling this pull, this connection, that bonds us in this together. I'm getting out of here soon, and I'll be back in there with all of you, working harder than ever to get stronger.">>18704743Carmody is able to read the note on the flowers herself then, and a smile crosses her face as she thinks of Kanako, who is with her in spirit, if not in person.
>"We'll get stronger together. And nothing that they say or do can stop us."
