you can use lighter loads including 38 special for self defense and practice, as well as heavy loads for hunting wild animals. its 4" barrel offers a good compromise of weight, concealment and ballistics. it wont win any beauty pageants like the colts or other fancy wheel guns but its basically indestructible and its a workhorse that will outlast your grandchildren
