I think I'd be more or less the same person, with very few or no friends IRL, frequent mood swings, not a lot of drive for anything specific, etc. regardless of where I lived. One thing that /bant/ and /int/ have taught me is that there are people who are unsatisfied with their lives all around the world, that there is not a single corner of the globe that doesn't have people who don't want to escape reality in some way or another through unrealistic art and entertainment.
