The start of construction of The Line, also known as the NEOM project, is not necessarily good news. If Saudi Arabia promotes it with advertising videos that present all its utopian aspects, the city seems above all to be a dystopia.
The problem is first of all ecological: taking the form of a high line 170 kilometers long and 500 meters high, made of mirrors, in the middle of the desert, the futuristic city will have serious ecological consequences in the local ecosystem. But there are also social issues, in particular in the control of data or in the control of resources such as water.
