>>18936392>[For the biggest day of Sola's professional life so far, Murphy's Law is in full effect.]As she goes to get changed into her final ring-gear, and not the well-worn outfit she's been training in all morning and afternoon, Sola realises that they aren't in her bag. Not a huge deal, but these older clothes don't fit as well, not to mention went out of style a few months ago. Sola wonders if everyone still thinks she is the pushover that she was back in April, despite the work she's done to change and distance herself from who she used to be. And though Carmody assures her it is just a small setback, this is a setback nonetheless, and it's started Sola off on the wrong foot.
Then, the moment she is about to step through the curtain, a PA comes up and informs her that they've lost her music, and she'll have to enter the ring to her old theme. Another reminder of the old her, before these changes made her into who she was today. In isolation, another thing that wouldn’t matter but an off-step becomes a stumble at only the second hurdle -- and against a foe with the quiet intensity of Karna, it might as well be a handicap match at this point. With Carmody at Sola's side, at least it's closer to a tag.
And then of course, Sola gets counted out. She would love to have an excuse for this one, but put simply, she just didn't hear the referee's count. The crowd was so hot for these two young rookies, that by the time she had slid back into the ring, the ref's ten fingers were extended and the bell had rung for the first time. From that point on, no excuses; Karna beat her up and knocked her down over and over. Though Sola did scratch back that second score -- and earn the first pinfall of the match, for whatever little that's worth -- in the end she just didn't get the job done.
Karna wins, 2-1. But more importantly, Sola loses, 1-2.
