She spots a librarian, a greying, middle aged woman whose glasses rest on the tip of her nose, and calls out to her as she struts her way. “Hey, can you help me find something I’m looking for?”
The librarian grimaces, and waits until Nikki gets closer to respond. “This is a library,” she whispers. “Please keep your voice down!”
“Yeah, sure,” Nikki mutters. “Now, can you help me or not?”
The librarian doesn’t watch wrestling. She sure as hell doesn’t subscribe to any Lonelyfans models. No, everything she could ever want, need or care for is right here in this library. To the librarian, this place is her sanctuary, her kingdom. And so, as she looks Nikki over, she does it without any knowledge as to her identity. All she sees is a loud, obnoxious girl with an Americanised but still vaguely Irish accent that’s dressed like she mistook this place for Club Xtinction. Or was it Club X-Static? Whatever the name is of the place the kids keep talking about. It doesn’t matter. All that matters is that this redhead is someone who doesn’t belong here. An invasive presence in her kingdom.
She sighs. “What do you need?”
Nikki is perceptive enough to be fully aware of when someone takes an immediate dislike to her, much as this librarian just has. But she smiles sweetly. She came here for information, not to humble some old hag. “I need information on demons. Specifically, the sort of demon that can pull your consciousness into another dimension, and has horns and uhh, big breasts. Do you know where I can find books about demons like that?”
The librarian points to her left. “Try our occult section. It’s at the back… and don’t be loud.”
