You couldn't get the proper 3D effect unless your viewing angle was properly confined to a very miniscule area. If your vision went even slightly off center, the screen would turn into a double-vision mess. It wasn't until the New 3DS that soitendo added face and eye tracking to fix the issue of the tiny 3D viewing angle (the 3D display would adjust and show "correctly" in relation to your face's position on the screen).
I'm kind of bummed since I missed out on great 3DS games. I was laser-focused on normie slop like Pokémon (3DS Pokémon games weren't bad, but they clearly lacked compared to the previous entries). I can't tell you how many hours I wasted on obtaining shiny Pokémon. Such is the lief of a Pokémon-obsessed zoomer...
