Oh god, in CnC, I was stuck in the renaissance era for an entire month. If the medieval era gets old, renaissance's violin strings start to become mind numbing by the second week. And I had to keep on reni for as long as possible as going to gunpowder would mean I'd lose all the experience bonuses obtained from training melee units, which meant my swordsmen were actually as strong as musketmen (in C2C the tier 2 gunpowder unit at 20 strength, compared to the normal h. swordsman's 13 - mine were rocking at 22.5 strength) and far cheaper to train than everyone else's Trench Infantry allowing for stacks of doom consisting of them and artillery bought from other civs that were rather effective until I had to face tanks and helicopters.
This is my current game by the way, one which I'm trying to fix as it crashes after the next turn due to some buggy settings (unrestricted leaders led to things that weren't supposed to be civs/leaders getting made.)
