The autonomous zone was a great example of what happens when the rule of law goes out the window and you have a lawless society (IE: anarchy). Regardless of their beliefs the cooperative went the same way as any other society without a formal rule of law and bodies to actually step up to enforce those laws.

It happens in Africa, Afghanistan and it may happen in the Ukraine if things get bad enough. When there's a power vacuum from a lack of state services and protections warlords step in to grab the power for themselves.
Who's going to stop them? CHAZ couldn't even make a garden and almost starved to death. Had they not leeched off of actual services provided by a functioning society then we'd see Razville or they'd all be dead.
