In terms of quality of life and job opportunities California is hard to beat if you have ambitions on being successful.
But if you're content with blue collar trade jobs where you tinker with shit and have to come home dirty and grimey and a blown out back from lifting heavy shit all day, you're better off staying in a poorer state.
