Why haven't you anons taken the telescope pill yet? My wife is into a lot of nerd shit, so a few years ago I bought her a decent telescope. It's nothing too fancy, just a upper-middle-tier amateur scope. Jupiter and Saturn have been bright in the western sky for weeks (they will be in conjunction on Dec 21), and with a halfway decent scope you can see images like pic related. You can attach a camera and photograph whatever you see, including nebulae and distant galaxies using any scope over $1000 or so. You can explore the moon and planets with a much cheaper one, though (pic related was scoped using one that can be found for around $600). You can also get a cheap filter and look at the surface of the sun. I've been lately trying to line things up to get a pic of Mercury or Venus going across the face of the sun. When I get a pic of Jupiter-Saturn in conjunction, don't you worry, anons, I'll come show my frens.
