An "English garden" style yard is a pain in the ass to maintain despite the seemingly wild look. Just like everything else, making something look natural and messy but also appealing requires a significant time investment. You can't just throw a bunch of seeds in your yard and end up with with the garden in your pic. Unlike you, some of us have jobs and homes and it's much easier to just mow for a couple hours each week then to actively garden. The purpose of a grass lawn is ease of maintenance and, while it isn't the most aesthetically pleasing, still having a presentable and orderly piece of land. And don't even think about mentioning perennials because that shit still requires significantly more tending than grass.
Also if you can't appreciate a lush green lawn you're a disgenic faggot and you should be gassed. Go ahead and just let your yard grow without maintenance and see how shitty your property ends up looking. 0.5 acres of monoculture grass per home in a typical suburban town isn't going to have any significant impact on biodiversity on the grand scale and if you think otherwise you're a fucking retard.
