In March 2014, he went to Lenin Square in Simferopol with a protest against the capture of the Crimea by the Russian army. He silently stood in front of the armed soldiers of the Russian army. Soon, several people in camouflage approached him, shoved him into a car and took him to an unknown destination. A few days later, his body was found in the Belogorsk district with traces of cruel torture, as a result of which, it is supposed, he was killed. Reşat Amet has a wife and three minor children.
