My argument is, that the way you determine whether a performance benchmark for your PC is good or trash is very similar to how you determine IQ - or any psychometric measure for that matter - is bullshit or not. Either you find correlation with useful phenomena or you don't. And IQ has correlation with many, many useful phenomena. So, I think IQ is not bullshit. No, it's not perfect, but neither is a PC benchmark.
But would you rather buy a PC that has 1000 or a 2000 score on a benchmark? Depends on how good the benchmark is, I suppose. But if you find that the benchmark is useful, you want the 2000 score PC.
IQ is like a benchmark for your brain.
