I’m Asian, grew up in Japan. When I was in junior high school, I had an English teacher who is black, that’s probably the first time I’ve ever met a black person. and he looks very similar to Burt. but more light skin.
Back then I was obsessed with American black culture, hip hop music, the fashion and stuff, so it made me think that black people are really cool. I was trying to impress this teacher for how black I am inside, so during a class, he was asking every student questions, and we have to answer it in English, And I would choose the blackest answer I can ever think of.
For example,one time they asked me what’s my favorite food, I said watermelon and fried chicken, and everytime he would just looking at me and confused, trying to know if I was trolling him. And I was also confused cuz I expected him to be like “omg that’s so relatable, I love those things too”
Every time I think of this, I would feel so cringe that I wanna punch a wall.
