For an outsider/gaijin, this makes it hard to find Japan's religious identity. Where is the Buddhism in japanese games and anime? Why are games like Sekiro (japan) and Wukong (china) so rare in japan?
As someone who's been dissecting japanese culture, media, and religion, all I can say is it's a big rabbit hole. If you dive into the abyss, you'll figure it out after a couple of years of dilation.
