The mystique has to be mentally generated and sustained by its users. Even this thread, "4chan is x, you must be x here". I still think it could be a fine place to meet like-broken-minded friends. And that's what happened here. Friends, and you can infer from the thread it was good for awhile. One doesn't just toddle out into the sunshine and shrug off the accumulated years of problems. The potential for radical realness exists in this most artificial of places.
