I’m genuinely shocked Erdoğan let the CHP take over Istanbul since he is how he is. The only thing I can think of is that he wants to play a little 4D chess and have a couple artificial losses so things seem legitimate before the election. I see things coming to a reckoning though once the Turkish public finds out exactly how all the massive infrastructure projects are being paid for, and when Kanal Istanbul permanently fucks up weather patterns for THE ENTIRE BLACK SEA by disrupting the natural water circulation patterns.
That said, I’ve noticed a trend of American Turks moving back in pretty large numbers regardless of their political / religious stances. Maybe blood does run thicker than water.
