>>22185841>>22185842>>22185841Materialism is what keeps the masses in check.
Materialism traps you in the endless cycle of cooming and consooming.
Materialism leads to moral relativism, at which point you cease to be a moral agent and become a complete non-threat to the state. You become little more than cattle to be herded this way and that.
Christianity teaches us to abide by higher ideals, to mediate on the spirit of existence itself, and to conquer our desires that would otherwise enslave us.
>>22185838The Church doesn't provide that. The Church provides the the understanding of why such a marriage arrangement is not only beneficial, but why it's necessary to live a fulfilling and joyful life. It's up to you and the woman you marry to not only accept that understanding, but to internalize it in a real way.
>>22185846King David was righteous and did what the Lord asked him, however, David was also extremely flawed. We can agree that David was not sinless like Jesus or even the Virgin Mary, but I think it's more of an example of how God often works through flawed people.
Something important to consider is that God is eternal, which means that he exists outside of time as we understand it. He can manipulate past, present, and future to bless people and bring about his will. This means that before David was anointed by God, God already knew all of the wicked sins David would commit, the entire history of Israel is almost comical with the amount of terrible and wicked sins those people kept turning to over and over again.
I think it should give us hope, that as long as we try to do our best for God, he can still use us to accomplish great and meaningful things that glorify him. Many people feel like they're unworthy of Christ or can never be a good person because of their sins, but salvation history teaches us that no sin is too big for God to forgive, and no sinner is too wicked for God to use for good.
Hope that helps!
